Jody Kemple, Author, Writer, Humanitarian
Farewell Bend is what the early pioneers called the Central Oregon town where they found a shallow spot to ford The Deschutes River. Bend became a popular stop on the Oregon Trail.
Loaded up in a Ford station wagon, Jody's family followed their own Oregon trail from her hometown of Gibson City, Illinois to visit her aunt, Uncle HM and six cousins in Bend. A dream was born. She wrote the Chamber of Commerce. My name is Jody Kemple. I am moving to Bend one day. Soon manila envelopes with vinyl brochures featuring glorious photographs of rivers and mountains dropped through the mail slot of the Kemple home to be placed in Jody’s hope chest. Thirty years later her dream came true.
Writing the story of Cameron’s transformative summer which takes place in Maupin, Oregon on the lower Deschutes River just 75 miles north of Bend, was an endearing labor of love. Another childhood dream of Jody’s, becoming a published author, has come true.
Today, like the early pioneers, Jody is saying Farewell Bend to follow yet another dream. Warm, sunny sands and ocean breezes lure her to the shores of Todos Santos, Mexico. From a writing studio nestled amidst the Pacific Ocean skies, serenaded by the songs of the birds, the creations of many more adventures are unfolding to follow Cameron of Today.
Spiritual, personal enlightenment, heart coherence, sales, marketing and children's curriculums—including the popular non-fiction Recapturing Your Original Blueprint—paved the way for this first release of Jody’s Freedom series.
